When we lived in St. Louis, we had a Buddha statue located in a secluded corner of the back yard. M positioned a solar light across from the piece so that the Buddha would be illuminated at night. The effect was one of peace and contemplation. Unfortunately, that corner of the yard felt far away from the house and we seldom went back there.
Here in Austin, we’ve placed the Buddha in a location much more central to our daily paths. He now anchors one end of the porch or terraza or lanai or whatever you call it in the courtyard area formed by the quirky ‘U’ shape of the house.
We feel much closer to him now, in all respects.
