A glimpse of the soon-to-be gone cherries in our tree behind the kitchen. When the fruit ripens, it makes for such a brilliant contrast against the green of the leaves…and then they are consumed, seemingly in a day, by the birds and squirrels of the neighborhood. All that’s left are pits with dangling scraps of flesh, and juice stains on the bricks of the patio. Nature is messy that way.
