On a Saturday afternoon back during the 2008 political season, someone knocked on the front door of Casa recursiveLoop. Those who know me can easily imagine my inward groan; Phil the Hermit hates visitors. Still, as I could easily be seen through the window in the front door, it was too late to feign absence. I opened the door to see a familiar face: my state representative, Rachel Storch, working the neighborhood as part of her reelection effort. That it was Rep. Storch herself was a mild surprise; the greater surprise was that she knew who I was. She’d read a post I wrote at my blog-at-the-time, the now-defunct Waveflux, in which I took her political opponent to task for various untruths he’d issued regarding the hard-working, award-winning, popular incumbent. It had been my pleasure to write it, enhanced now by Rachel thanking me for the piece. You’d hope that your political representatives would be both canny enough to stay on top of the interwebs and savvy enough to recognize a supporter, but it was also darned nice of her to remember.
I write this today because I’ll have to find another representative to support, as Rep. Storch is leaving the Missouri General Assembly and the state itself, off to marry and begin a family in New York state. It’s a loss for Missouri and District 64, but a new beginning for Rachel, and I wish her all the best.

I just heard this too! I know Rachel from back in her Legal Services days. She is the cream of the crop and we will miss her in Missouri. We need more sane, ethical, smart legislators like Rachel!
